Anyone know off hand if a 1992 chevy 1500 (4x4) pickup is based on the tahoe or suburban chassis/shell? Ive found this in my area for 900 bucks.... has an oil leak. I dont know if thats a good price for these trucks or not. this is a promising winter beater/plow truck.

Other way around, the GMT40o platform underpins the trucks and suburbans.
$900 bucks is a steal if it runs. Worse case you need a new 350, how hard are those to find?

Oil leak? Christ, for 900 bucks if that's it, that's a steal. There's a saying in Texas, but I think it holds true most places. Roughly paraphrased, "A running truck, no matter the age or condition, is always worth at least $2500"

It used to be $1,000. Damned inflation.

ok. i think yall have convinced me to give this guy a call.... My parents might not be happy i could come home with a 2nd car, but, they always do tend to be borrowing trucks to do yard work... I think ive got my sales pitch ready.

Haha you knew what i meant though. My parents had a 99 burban, and honestly, it was rock solid. Thousands of miles towing a 20" boat, may have caused the trans issues, but that engine was solid. almost 200K miles. Thats why i was hoping it was of the same lineage.

hmmmm. Texas is where the truck money is, eh? if you live in texas, i think we could start a little business here. I come across a lot of cheap trucks in my area...

If they are like this one, we can make bank. Anything that runs and has a bed is worth 1.5 to 2 grand, tack on another grand for 4x4. Welcome to brotruck/farmtruck land.
